Hope you all had the loveliest time over Christmas! Now the festivities are winding down its got me thinking about all the beauty products I have discovered this year.
Whether its creating that NYE glow or covering up my hangover the next day, these are my beauty saviours which have now become permanent additions to my make up bag. I know that I will be replacing these again and again in 2018…
So here are my top 10…
Number 1: Tan-Luxe The Water
Always in fear of streaks, I have opted for a gradual tanner in the past. However this tanning hydration spray won me over. Not only does it develop into a golden (streak free!) tan but it doesn’t have the ‘biscuity’ smell which many other fake tans have. It only takes around 3 hours to develop, so perfect for applying before a night out (especially if you leave everything last minute like me…)
Number 2: Institute Esthederm Eye Contour Patches
Recently, I’ve noticed signs of fatigue are showing a little more frequently (most definitely not helped by all the festivities this month..). To restore a fresher face, I have been using these eye patches. They reduce the appearance of dark circles and under eye bags instantly so Its almost like caffeine in a patch. Great pre-night out!
Number 3: Dermalogica Redness Relief Primer
This is actually green (due to the botanical extracts) but is the perfect shade for counteracting redness. I have struggled with red patches for years so this is great for balancing skin tone. It also contains silicones which smooth the skin; creating the ideal base in which to apply makeup. I apply this every morning and it ensures my foundation stays put all day.
Number 4: Trish McEvoy Even Skin Water Foundation
This was my greatest find this year as it combines a light and fluid texture with buildable coverage. It has an almost ‘watery’ texture which blends into the skin extremely well and allows you to vary the coverage depending on the occasion (or in my case, how much chocolate I’ve been eating…) I also love the matte, velvety finish which is ideal for my oil-prone skin.
Number 5: Trish McEvoy Fast-Track Highlighter stick
I generally keep to powder highlighters during the day as they can be slightly more subtle and blendable. However this beauty is an exception to the rule… This pearly cream highlighter is buildable and easy to blend so I love to use it both day and night. I use it to illuminate the top of my cheekbones and nose.
Number 6: Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb
Forever loyal to my perfume favourites (Coco Chanel, Miss Dior, Mon Guerlain), I am hard to sway when it comes to new perfume. However this beauty has joined my dressing table favourites. A slightly more floral and light scent than my usual, I love this perfume especially for Spring and Summer. Also who could not fall in love with that bottle..?
Number 7: Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer
My very first bronzer (my mum gave me one of hers…) was a Guerlain Terracotta bronzing powder. This is one of Guerlain’s legendary products and has long been a leader in bronzing powders. This year I discovered the Gold light Edition. Perfect for both nights out and creating that sun kissed glow, it contains mother of pearl to catch the light. It also smells an absolute DREAM.
Number 8: Guerlain Eyeliner
Forever on the hunt for an eyeliner with an ultra fine brush and fluid texture, this product has become easily engrained in my beauty routine. The fluid is also highly pigmented to ensure the intensity and hold of the line. I apply this in the morning and it holds up until the evening without having to reapply (or looking like a panda…).
Number 9: Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip
If you follow me on Instagram, you will know i’m very partial to nude lip colours. I do love lipsticks but I can find them drying if I over use them. When I came across this moisturising Bobbi Brown lip gloss earlier this year, it offered an ideal alternative. I use ‘Naked pink’ which is the dreamiest pink nude (just a bit darker than my natural lip colour) so great for everyday wear. PLUS despite being a gloss it surprisingly long lasting.
Number 10: Guerlain Precious light
Yep, its another Guerlain product… The best tool for strobing, this instantly illuminates complexion. I apply this under my eyes after I’ve applied my foundation to ensure maximum light reflection. It’s great for creating a more subtle everyday glow.
